Vigils in support of Cindy Sheehan

August 16, 2005

On Wednesday, August 17 at 7:30 p.m. there will be candlelight vigils around the nation in support of Cindy Sheehan and her courageous actions outside George W. Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. Cindy has been called by some the Rosa Parks of this nation's peace movement. I have spoken with Cindy, and she is a powerful, purposeful, loving woman. Through her willingness to speak her truth and ask tough questions, she is putting the spotlight on the death and destruction created by this senseless, immoral war and reawakening many of us to our power to make a difference.

In Asheville the vigil will take place at Pack Square. You may click here to sign up for the event or just show up. More info on the Asheville event from Susan Oehler. If you live outside Western North Carolina, click here to find the vigil nearest you.

I hope you'll join me in honoring Cindy on Wednesday.

Our sons made the ultimate sacrifice and we want answers. All we're asking is that President Bush sacrifice an hour out of his five-week vacation to talk to us, before the next mother loses her son in Iraq.

Description: This will be a candlelight vigil done to honor what Cindy Sheehan is doing in Texas. Cindy Sheehan spoke at our Peace Rally in March, 2005. We will have candle luminaries around the fountain in Pack Square. I will bring the supplies and anyone who believes in nonviolent resolution to conflicts is welcome.
